What are Compliments

Complements are used in digital computers to simplify binary subtraction because binary subtraction is performed as an addition operation. By means of compliments. Another usage of complement is that, using complement signed binary numbers are represented in digital computers. In every number or system of base ‘r’ has two types of compliments:

1. R’s complement
2. (r-1)’s complement

For example: The binary number of space R is equal to 2, we have two types of compliments:

1. in Binary:
• 1's Comliment
• 2's Compliemnt
2. in Decimal:
• 9's Comliment
• 10's Compliemnt
3. in Octal:
• 7's Comliment
• 8's Compliemnt
4. in Hexa-Decimal
• 15's Comliment
• 16's Compliemnt
